Celebrating Two Incredible Milestones at Westport Woods Hotel
At Westport Woods Hotel, we are proud to celebrate not just the growth of our hotel, but the people who have been at the heart of that journey.
Recently, we marked two very special milestones with Annette celebrating 30 years of service and Margaret celebrating 25 years with us. Between them, they have witnessed decades of change, growth, and memorable moments.
Annette – 30 Years

Annette joined the team in February 1996, when the hotel was a 57 bedroom family-run property without a spa or leisure centre. Over the years, she has seen the hotel evolve into what it is today, with expanded bedrooms and excellent leisure facilities.
From the very beginning, Annette was part of a close-knit team working alongside Joanne and Michael and their young family, helping to create the warm and welcoming atmosphere that still defines the hotel.
As a long-serving Receptionist and then Head Receptionist, Annette has built lasting relationships with guests from all over the world. Many have become familiar faces over the years, and she takes great pride in greeting returning guests and catching up with them during their stays.
She also speaks warmly about the team she works with, highlighting the strong sense of friendship and support that makes Westport Woods such a special place to work.
Margaret – 25 Years

Margaret began her journey with us 25 years ago, also when the hotel had just 57 bedrooms. Since then, she has played a key role in its transformation, witnessing the addition of 65 new rooms, the development of the leisure centre, and many changes across the property.
Now Accommodation Manager for the past 21 years, Margaret has been instrumental in shaping her department. She has worked closely with Joanne and Michael, who have always encouraged her, supported her, and trusted her to make decisions and drive improvements.
Margaret’s story is also deeply personal. When she started, she had a young daughter, Bec, and the supportive environment at the hotel made balancing work and family life that bit easier. Bec grew up around the hotel, often spending time in the lobby doing homework and being looked after by the team, including Annette and Mary.
That connection continued over the years, with Bec later working in the leisure centre for four years. Even during the Covid closure, she showed incredible commitment by coming in daily to check the pool readings.
For Margaret, working at Westport Woods has always been about more than just a job. Its close proximity to home, combined with a supportive and family-friendly culture, has made it a truly special place.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Annette and Margaret represent the very best of Westport Woods Hotel. Their dedication, loyalty, and genuine care for both guests and colleagues have helped shape the hotel into what it is today.
We are incredibly grateful for everything they have contributed over the years and look forward to celebrating many more milestones together.
