Set against the stunning backdrop of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick, this exciting community event brings together paddle boarding, beach culture, live music, family fun and ocean adventure for all ages.
Whether you are an experienced paddle boarder, a first timer looking to try something new, or simply looking for a fantastic day out by the sea, Saltwater Sessions promises a fun filled atmosphere with something for everyone to enjoy.
What to Expect 🏄
The weekend programme includes a mix of exciting races, beach activities and entertainment:
- Elite Distance Race
A thrilling 12km point to point paddle race from Old Head Pier to Lecanny Pier and back, forming part of the Irish SUP Series. - 6km Distance Paddle
Perfect for all rounders and beginners who want to enjoy the beauty of Clew Bay while taking part in a relaxed paddle experience. - 300m Technical Races
Short course races using school boards, designed to encourage participation and fun for paddlers of all abilities - Marilyn Monroe Pier Jump 💃
Join the fun on Saturday evening with fancy dress, laughter and plenty of entertainment during this unique crowd favourite event.

This year’s event proudly supports the RNLI, helping to raise awareness around water safety and support the lifesaving work carried out along our coastline.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn more about Leave No Trace principles and how we can all help protect our beaches and oceans for future generations.
