The treks go through woodland, bogland and up through the foothills of majestic Croagh Patrick, affording panoramic views across Clew Bay to Achill and Clare Island. There are some lovely unspoilt areas with whitewashed cottages and the scent of turf smoke through the air, as well as clear gurgling streams for the horses to cool their hooves in. Beach trekking is a dream come true for many riders, splashing through Atlantic shallows on a sandy beach - and the horses love it too.
