As part of our Mission Statement says, we aim “to maintain the highest of standards while caring for our environment”. As we work towards this, we're delighted that we're starting to get recognition and awards from external organisations.

Everything we do takes the environment into consideration and our guests are really supportive of our efforts. Here are some of the awards we have won or been shortlisted in recently:
Optimus
Optimus is an awards programme run by Fáilte Ireland to help tourism businesses achieve excellence in every aspect - from customer service to operational management and right through to managing the organisation itself. We're delighted to have achieved the Mark of Best Practice award focused on the operating systems of the hotel. It's wonderful to get this high level feedback on how we're doing.
Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards
This is the very first year we've entered these awards and we've just been selected as Connaught winners in the Environmental/Sustainability section. Now we go forward to the national finals to be held in March 2009. We were the only hotel to reach the provincial finals in any section. We're really overwhelmed at this vote of confidence in our activities, it's really gratifying.
Green Awards
The Westport Woods Hotel & Spa is overall winner of the Green Entertainment and Leisure section in the Green Awards. This is a brand new competition and is adjudicated by some of the most significant environmental figures in the country including Gerry McCaughey, founder of Century Homes and environmental campaigner in the building industry and Duncan Stewart, RTE presenter and environmental architect. We were in good company - our co-winners were huge multinationals including Abbott Ireland, Tesco, Irish Life and Permanent and Superquinn
A "Hat Trick" in the Mayo Business Awards
We're so proud of ourselves. For the third year running we've been chosen as winners in the Environmental section of the Mayo Business Awards. This prestigious awards programme is run by the Chambers of Commerce and we're delighted and overwhelmed at our win. We feel it underlines the great strides we have been making in the greening of our hotel.
SEI Awards
SEI stands for Sustainable Energy Ireland and we've been nominated for their awards for the last three years. This year we just missed top place in Category A which was Energy Efficiency Project - Small User. We were very pleased to receive a Highly Commended runner up placing in this, the most significant environmental awards in the country. The judges even suggested our system could be a template for other hotels to follow.
