Tri Burgh is a standard Olympic distance triathlon consisting of a swim of 1500m, a bike ride of 40km and finally a 10km run. The course is varied and includes challenges specific to the course and the geography of west Mayo. The swim is an open-water course in Clew Bay - wetsuits are mandatory. The bike route is generally a circular route, but has an out and back leg taking in the magnificent Doo Lough Valley. This has a fast downhill section which is a climb on the return. The remainder of the bike course is on generally flat ground allowing the participant to take in the spectacular scenery.
