Gaelforce West is the largest one day adventure race of its kind in the world. The 2011 event takes place on Saturday August 20th.
It is a multi-sport adventure race involving cycling, running, hiking and kayaking. The course of approximately 65km stretches from the stunning Glassilaun beach to Westport. En route there are some significant obstacles to cross, including Killary Harbour and the famous holy mountain of Croagh Patrick. The event is designed for solo competitors, but you can run it with a buddy or training partner.
For those participating in the race we have a special offer in the Beech Club Leisure Centre to soothe away all your aches and pains use of steam, sauna & jacuzzi that weekend for only €5.00 per person.
For those who would like to join in the events but maybe haven't been training quite as intense we have our own outdoor adventure activities scheduled for friday and saturday.
Fancy competing in the olympics.......our own mini version lasts an hour and includes races, water games, tug of war, three legged events and a variety of mini games.
